With the birth of religion, rituals and festivals were invented to celebrate the gods worshipped by faithful followers. Diwali binds Sikhs with the rest of the Indian population. This festival of lights is a commonality between Sikhs, Hindus and Jains, even though the causes for celebration vary, since the Sikhs use this festival to celebrate the return of their sixth Guru. Then, there is the Hola Mohalla held in honour of the tenth Guru who founded the Khalsa tradition. From the Hola Mohalla in Anandpur Sahib in the Punjab region of India, the river of faith flows all around the world, including Thailand where the birth anniversary of the first guru, Guru Nanak Dev, is celebrated at the Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha in the Pahurat District of Bangkok. And yet, the fun and play observed in the festivals are not the only determinants that have allowed Sikhism to have lasted for over 500 years. It is the power of faith that gathers devotees in large numbers in every festival and ceremony.
