According to figures released by the Department of Livestock Development in 2016, there were 2,541,009 cats that had owners and 474,142 cats without owners that were in a disadvantaged position. It is predicted that if the problem of pet abandonment and pet overpopulation cannot be resolved, the population of homeless dogs and cats will reach five million in 20 years’ time.
Cats are just like any other living beings. They need a good quality of life, and they need to be protected from abuse, starvation and homelessness. On this trip, our Spirit of Asia team takes part in a rescue mission on “Cat Island”, which is the island of Ko Kai Nai in Phang Nga Province. This is a mission of compassion in which we are helping fellow beings that are fighting the same battle against the pandemic. We won’t leave anyone behind, not even the members of the cat community.
